KCB M-PESA Account

KCB M-PESA is a savings account that enables you to access instant loans up to KSh 1M upon dialing *844#.

• The KCB M-PESA Account features include:
• Minimum saving of Kshs.1 and maximum saving of KSh 1M
• Personal accident insurance benefit based on savings
• Interest on savings of 2% p.a.

You may load your savings easily and conveniently via M-PESA, KCB Mobi, Mtaani agent and/or branch and withdraw your KCB M-PESA account savings only via M-PESA.

Loans

You can borrow instantly without saving with disbursement being to KCB M-PESA Account Loan Limits (Kshs.100 to KSh 500,000 with a top up option)
You can choose flexible repayment periods of 1 month, 3 months and 6 months via M-PESA, KCB M-PESA Account and Mobi/Branch/Mtaani with an option of Partial payments.
The interest on the loan include:

• 30 day loan at 6% per month
• 90 day loan at 5% per month
• 180 day loan at 4% per month

The KCB M-PESA Account Fixed Deposit accounts

There are two types of fixed deposit accounts available to you as a KCB M-PESA Account holder. They include

• Fixed Savings Account
• Target Savings Account

Fixed Savings Account

This Account allows you to lock a specific amount of cash for a certain period of time.

How does it work?

• You will not be able to top-up to the amount saved.
• Locked periods include 1, 3, 6, and 12 months with minimum amount of KSh 500.
• Upon early or premature redemption, you will forfeit all interest accrued.
• You get cash back immediately to KCB M-PESA account on prompting cash back
• You also get Life insurance benefit based on fixed deposit savings.

Target Savings Account

This account allows you to set a target and make deposits towards achieving that target.

How does it work?

• You will top up continuously until you achieve your target.
• The account is accessible with standing orders from M-PESA or KCB M-PESA Account
• You can choose from target periods of 1, 3, 6 and 12 months with minimum contribution of KSh 50.
• You will also earn interest on cumulative interest
• You are allowed up to 4 withdrawals within target lock period to maintain interest.
• You will get cash back immediately to your KCB M-PESA account on prompting cash back

Lipa Na M-PESA Buy Goods and Services

Lipa na M-PESA is a service that allows you to pay for goods and services easily through your phone.
Buy goods plus pay for services easily through your phone. To Lipa Na M-PESA, go to the M-PESA Menu, select Lipa Na M-PESA and select Buy Goods and services, then enter the Till Number that the merchants will display, and follow subsequent prompts to complete the transactions. Both you and the merchant will then get confirmation messages from M-PESA.

Lipa Na M-PESA Online

Shop online and pay using your M-PESA easily and conveniently.
When shopping online select Lipa Na M-PESA as the payment method at checkout. Upon selecting Lipa Na M-PESA, you will be directed to the Lipa Na M-PESA Iframe.
All you need is your Bonga PIN which is used to validate payments using Lipa Na M-PESA online, secure Bonga Points transfer and purchase of Data Bundles via M-PESA.
You can get your PIN in 2 ways:

• For PrePay customers, dial *126*5#. Vetting is based on ID number and Last top up.
• For PostPay customer, call line 200 for assistance.

If you need to change your Bonga PIN you can:

• Dial *126*5# and use the options provided.

How to Record TV Shows and Programs

DSTV explora hardware and some other premium satellite TV decoders lets you record events and programs for future viewing, but if you are using the HD version that doesn’t give such privileges, you can use this section for tips on how to record TV programs for future viewing.

• Select the device to use (for this guide, I’ll be using a PC. Note that there are such enhancement for smartphone and tablets)
• Get a USB TV box/stick(buy it from Aliexpress)
• Connect the USB TV stick to your PC and connect the RCA from the decoder to it or use the RF-out to sync between your regular TV and USB TV
• Install the USB TV box software and support drivers
• Select any channel of choice and hit record to the save for future viewing

Note: You can record both satellite TV programs and regular TV shows with this guide. You can also use your regular TV cards (for desktop computers) to record live TV shows by upgrading the support software to their latest version.

We decided to come up with a complete DIY guide for installing or setting up a satellite dish & decoder for DSTV, MyTV, Multi TV & etcetera without paying an installer/technician after we recently installed one for a student who complained of having not even half our installation fees.
We concluded that a guide like this can help a lot of persons install their satellite dishes without a bug of any kind.
Following this guide step by step will help you install and setup your satellite Tv dishes without the usual missing channels, poor signal and related issues that happens as a result of low technical know-how for installing satellite dishes.

Tools Needed

•  The Satellite dish and components (ie. Reflector, Lnbf and Decoder. They are usually sold together)
• A good hammer
• 4 Pieces of 3-inches nail
• I packet of cable clips (the one with nails)
• 10/13, and 14/15 combination, flat or ring spanner(s)
• A cutter (or electric pliers)
• A Black Solution Tape (cellotape)
• A Screwdriver
• F connectors (a minimum of 2) and Coaxial cables (1 full roll of Coaxial cable is about NGN1,000, $9)
• A digital satellite signal meter (We used a strong decoder and so will be using it for references throughout this tutorial)

Extra Tools
This part is necessary if you are going to use a pipe and not the house roof, wall or wooden fetcher board before the roof.
The pipe must be fixed on an open space without trees and/or other hindrances. Below is the tools necessary for mounting your satellite dish in a open space outside the building or with a longer pipe.

• A cup of Cement mixed with stones
• a trowel
• Cutlass or shovel (for digging of hole)
• A paint of sand and a bucket of water

How to Setup the Satellite Dish

The satellite dish components will usually come in separate parts and must be arranged in such a way that makes it easy to receive signals and withstand strong wind.
The arrangement of the dish components depends on where you intend mounting it on, if you are going to mount it on a root, wall or wooden fetcher board of the building, look at the image below for how it should be coupled.

If you intend mounting it on a pipe outside the building, look at the image below and use the tools listed in the extra tools section above to make it solid and well grounded.

The last things needed to complete this section is to fit in the screws and nuts in the reflector’s (dish) rear and connect the LNBF accordingly. See images below for the tips.

How to Configure the Decoder, Activate smart card and free-to-air channels for first viewing

This is the part where your digital satellite signal meter will come into play. Plug the Coaxial cable into the Lnbf  base of the main dish assembly and then plug the other end of the cable into the LNB in (Antenna) port in the back of a digital satellite signal meter or a strong decoder.
Complete the second part also known as dish alignment by locating east, west, points and degrees depending on the satellite tv provider you intend doing the setup for.
Do note that for this tutorial, we used a strong decoder (as a digital satellite signal meter) to install a DSTV satellite dish and then connected the lnbf cable to the DSTV decoder to watch all the channels available for our selected plan.
The angular position, polarity and transponder values for popular satellite providers is listed below for your perusal.

Orbital Position & Frequencies for Popular Digital Satellite TV Providers

For Multi TV: Use –

• TURK SAT
• Orbital Position – EAST
• Transponder Frequency: 12553, 12525 or 12522
• Symbol rate: 19531, 27500 or 27000
• Polarity: Vertical

For DSTV: Use –

• EUTEL SAT W4 or Eutelsat W7
• Orbital Position – EAST
• Transponder Frequency: 12245, 11900, or 11747
• Symbol rate: 27500
• Polarity: Horizontal

Note that this particular settings works for High TV, Train TV & most other sports channels satellite providers.

When you experience loss of signal from your DStv decoder during rainfall or harsh weather conditions, little do you know that you can beat it by learning how to increase and stabilize your DStv signal reception. This post will teach you in details how to do it and obtain the desired DStv signal reception and stability.

Have you been spending so much money hiring a DStv installer or technician to fix and restore your DStv signal? Has your DStv signal been interrupted while viewing an important program or football match? The technological process is such that a larger dish pan has a wider area to trap signals down-linking from the space satellite and transmit or reflect such signals back to the already-positioned LNB.

Some gains of using a big size satellite dish pan include better and very stable signal reception, higher quality signal reception, less "rain fade" or reduced signal loss during rainfall or harsh weather conditions and so on.
 

However, do not forget that all these are obtainable only when the satellite dish has been properly installed. You can learn more about how to install a DStv dish but it is recommended that you engage an accredited installer to install the DStv dish for you. This is of essence as there are series of highly technical ways of properly positioning your dish and LNB, which cannot be done manually.

 

Other factors to consider in increasing and stabilizing your DStv signal reception is to ensure you use a good quality LNB and coaxial cables. A there are low grade or substandard LNB models in the market, you need a trained installer to be able to procure an appropriate LNB for your DStv.

However, when you are buying a complete DStv system from any branch, it usually comes with an original LNB from MultiChoice. But when you have reasons to procure another LNB from external sources, carry your accredited installer along to make the best choice for you.

Poor quality cables can turn your viewing pleasure into your worst nightmare. When problems arise as a result, most people fail to associate it with poor quality cables being used - so they continue to suffer for long.
 

So if you frequently experience signal issues, crosscheck these parameters listed here to confirm and revert to the better accessories that would automatically increase and stabilize your DStv signal reception.

Step 1: eCitizen.go.ke website

Open your web browser and type in www.ecitizen.go.ke. This will take you to the eCitizen Home Page from where you will be able to see the Overview, Services and FAQ links. Remember I told you that the FAQ questions are rather useless. The Services link on the other hand is great as it provides a platform for checking the particular services available by categories. I mentioned these services in the first article of this eCitizen series.





Since I am already registered, I do not have the privilege of knowing exactly what is required of you in steps 3 and 4 but I guess Step 3 requires you to add additional details like your Nationality (which I think is a very stupid requirement as I mentioned in the first article), Postal Address (of which you may not have), Physical Address (A mandatory requirement) and others. In Step 4 I guess you’ll be required to Finish your registration.

Step 3: Login to your DashBoard

After you have an account, you will be able to request for services as offered by the National Transport and Safety Authority, Office of The Attorney General and Department of Justice, Department of Immigration Services, and Ministry of Land, Housing & Urban Development. What you will need to do is to simply click on Get Service Now button under any of the departments and you will be taken to the Department’s Service portal.
Once in the Department’s Service Portal e.g. NTSA’s, you will be able to click on Submit Application, a link that will take you to all the available services and from where you will be able to select your desired service and Apply.

Step 4: Apply for the Service

Most of the services e.g. Business Name Registration, Application for Passport among others require you to do the form filling online, submit the application form, pay for the service using the MPESA Pay Bill Number 206206 but complete the application by Physically visiting the relevant office to present either the original copies of relevant documents or sign physical copies of certain documents.
This is an important that is worth to emphasize; simply filling in application forms online at eCitizen.go.ke and paying for the service does not guarantee that the service will be rendered. Most of the services already on offer via the online portal require you to physically visit the government offices.

Conclusion

If by any chance you will have troubles applying for your government service via eCitizen.go.ke, you can always receive help by sending an email to  support@ecitizen.go.ke or call either of these two numbers Orange +254 772 246 669 or Safaricom +254 708 206 206. I called both but the second one, registered as NTSA with TrueCaller, did not go through. The first one went through but no one picked.
